The Life of Audrey

To the Doctor Again

We’ve now had Audrey out several times. She has been to church with us a couple times. We have taken her out to the grocery store as well. She has been really well-behaved. In fact, we have sat in the “Cry Room” at church to avoid disrupting mass if Audrey would start crying in the middle of mass, but we are going to start sitting out in a pew in the back of the church because Audrey has slept through mass each time while the other children in the Cry Room have been loud and running and jumping.

We also took Audrey out this past Monday for her 1-month checkup with the pediatrician. She weighed in at 10 lbs., 4 oz. She gained a little better than 3/4 oz. per day between appointments. Everything went well, but we didn’t get so much out of the appointment; we heard much of the same advice/information that we heard at the first appointment. Audrey behaved even better this time than she had at the last appointment. We will be going back in about a month, and I imagine that there will be a lot more noise and crying at this appointment; Audrey will be getting her first vaccinations at that time.

After Audrey’s doctor appointment, we went to Bob Evans for breakfast. We left Audrey in her carrier and placed it on a holder they gave us; she slept through our entire time there. She also slept through the wait at the office for Barbara’s doctor appointment. It wasn’t until we were going in that she woke up. But she ate and then slept through Barbara’s appointment.

After Barbara’s appointment, we visited coworkers and passed Audrey around to 15 or 20 people. Some people didn’t want to take her because she was sleeping, but she pretty much slept through all of the passing back and forth. She woke up occasionally and opened her eyes a bit. People were surprised by the fact that she stayed asleep through all of the passing and holding. It was quite nice to visit and show Audrey off to everyone, and I think everyone enjoyed meeting her.

Things have been going really well at home. Audrey is sleeping well--generally at least 5 or 6 hours at a time at night. Once she is fed, she usually sleeps 3 or 4 hours more. Everyone seems really surprised by her sleeping habits and tells us how lucky we are. We realize it.
