The Life of Audrey

To the Doctor

Audrey’s first scheduled appointment with the pediatrician was Friday, February 17. We had to wake Audrey for a bath, and she was not too happy about that. But she managed to get back to sleep after her bath and slept through the car ride. Then we had to wake her again when we got to the doctor’s office. Based on her lack of sleeping at night for the next three days (after having slept through the night from Sunday through Thursday), we think that waking her twice messed up her sleeping pattern. She is back on track now.

Apparently most people don’t take a camera to their kids’ doctor appointments, not even the first one, as at least three of the staff in the office made note of our having our camera. But we didn’t care. We are doing our best to capture early moments in Audrey’s life because we can’t get them back. So people can think we are strange, but we’re not going to leave our camera at home.

Audrey got a little fussy and cold while we waited for the doctor to come in, but we managed to get her settled down. She weighed in at 9 lb., 7 oz, not quite back up to her birth weight, but the doctor was still happy with her weight. The greater concern was that she gain 3/4 oz. to 1 oz. per day since being home, and she had done that. Also, she was in the 90th to 97th percentile for height, weight, and head size for babies at 9 days old.

We were very happy with everything at her appointment, and the doctor and the nurse practitioner seemed to be happy with everything we have been doing with Audrey. So things are off to a good start. Her next appointment is in three weeks.
