We don’t have any special scale for weighing Audrey, but I was curious to see how she was doing with gaining weight since leaving the hospital. She left the hospital at a little over 9.1 lbs. I put her down on her back on our bathroom scale, and she squirmed a little, but she calmed down enough for the scale to get a reading of 9.4 lbs. I started the scale again, just to see if we got the same reading twice. She was not at all squirmy the second time, and the scale produced the same reading of 9.4 lbs. So she is almost back up to her birth weight. I will probably weigh her again tomorrow, when she is a week old, to see if she has gotten to 9.6 lbs. With the way that she is eating, I think that she will make it with no problem.
Tuesday was also the first day for Daddy to be away from Audrey all day. Audrey did just fine, but it was pretty hard on Daddy, who went a whole 12 hours without seeing his baby. He will deal with it, but it is going to be hard. Somehow he is going to have to make himself less busy. But it was a good chance for Mommy and Audrey to bond alone, without Daddy around. I know that this is important for them, so perhaps it was good that I had to go to work. But I was so glad to see her (and Barbara-we are so used to being together all the time after a week in the same hospital room) at the end of the day.
