The Life of Audrey

Our First Full Day Together

Monday was our first full day together, without nurses or other babies around. We had a really good day. There was lots of sleeping, lots of quiet time, and lots of holding and looking at Audrey. Audrey slept for 3 hours at one time, 4 hours at another, and then for 6 hours at bed time. After the first night when we could not get her to calm down for an hour and a half, we were anxious to get a swing, since the swings at the hospital nursery worked so well at calming Audrey down. We thought we would use it a lot, so we did not want to get a swing that uses batteries. I was surprised to find that the first swing that allowed the use of an AC power adapter was a Fisher-Price model that was only released within the past couple months. It is an online-only item at every store we checked. We considered ordering it online, but we didn’t. And she has been so good that we have not thought so much about the swing. But I’m sure that there will be times when we need it. So we will probably order it soon. However, even in the hospital, I had the swinging motion down pretty well. I was able to calm her down or even put her to sleep by swinging her in my arms.
