Yesterday Audrey had her first bottle, and it went quite well. She drank a lot and drank it quickly. I think that she liked the speed aspect of the bottle feeding, as she was not at all fussy during the feeding. Also, she didn’t seem to mind that Daddy was the one giving her food. This was very pleasing for us, as it meant that Mommy doesn’t have to get up every time Audrey is hungry; Daddy can take some turns, too.
Late in the day we took Audrey out with us. We needed to go to the mall near my office, so we stopped in to visit the few people in my department who were working on Saturday (which has happened so much for our most recent project). We thought we would introduce her to a small group and see how that went before taking her to visit when everyone was in. When we took her in, she was sleeping in her carrier. I knew that people would want to hold her, so I took her out of her carrier. I thought this would wake her. But it did not. Three or four people held her, and she opened her eyes once or twice, but she didn’t wake up through the passing around.
She did wake up when we pulled into the mall parking lot. After a bottle she was calm again, and we proceeded to make our way through the mall. Our stroller is on backorder for a second time, so I just carried Audrey around in her carrier. People probably thought we were silly or wondered why we weren’t using a stroller, but it seemed to put Audrey to sleep. She seemed to enjoy the back-and-forth motion caused by my walking and the bouncing of the carrier against my leg. She slept through the mall, including while we were eating in the very busy and loud food court.
We took her to the grocery store after the mall, and she slept through that also. She woke up and started crying when we got in the car to head home. We managed to keep her pretty calm until we got home and could feed her.
It was quite nice to be out together. And it was nice that Audrey was so well behaved throughout the day.
