Well, it has been one month that I have been staying home alone with Audrey. I can’t believe it. And I can’t believe that it has been two months since I posted an update to this blog. (For some reason, I just can’t find the time to do it.) In that time, we took a trip to visit our families. Both sets of grandparents have stayed for a weekend and spent the day with Audrey while Barbara and I were out at the theater. We have also visited my old office at least twice.
Audrey got her first round of shots about a month ago. At that appointment she weighed 12 lbs., 3.5 oz. She was 24 in. in length. I haven’t weighed her since then, but I am pretty sure she is getting close to 14 lbs.
We are having a lot of fun together. Some days are tough, when it seems that no matter what I try to do for her, she wants something else. For a couple weeks now, she has been doing a lot of “talking”. We can go on with her for as much as 10 or 15 minutes. Sometimes she makes so many noises so quickly that she gives herself the hiccups.
She is still sleeping well at night and has started sleeping in her crib. Her daytime naps are all over the place, in terms of duration. Right now, she has been napping for 2 and a half hours. Some days she won’t sleep for more than 30 to 45 minutes.
Yesterday Audrey turned three months old. The most exciting moment of the day came late in the afternoon. After trying for so long and getting so frustrated, Audrey finally rolled over from her back to her belly. She has been working at this, but she would never get her arm out of the way, and that kept her from flipping. She would get upset and cry. But yesterday I saw that she was very close to making it. She started crying, but I didn’t want to pick her up because I thought she might make it. She rolled from her side to her back and then went all the way from her back to her tummy. I was very excited, and I called Barbara right away. I wouldn’t say Audrey seemed happy, but I think that relieved would be fair. Maybe surprised. Later in the evening, after Barbara was home, Audrey was lying on the floor on her back. I looked down a few minutes after putting her down, and she was on her tummy. She didn’t make any noise. No crying. No frustration. No sounds of exertion.
